I think that Apple can achieve its success in business, because it knows how to use the information technology to help them to find the effective information, and then, they used this information to create their competitive advantage. In an Apple store, the employees should know how to use the information technology and be familiar with the information of new products. As many information they know, they can do well on sales when they introduce the products to customers. Also, they are required to have the knowledge of marketing and customers’ information as well. Compared to the employees, the headquarters in Apple, Inc. are required to know the information of all employees, how to recognize the useful information, and how to use the MIS (Management information system) to manage those resources.
There are four types’ common information cultures in business: information-functional culture, information-sharing culture, information-inquiring culture, and information-discovery culture. If Apple’s operations tend to operate in the information-functional culture, it will have greatest negative impact on their operations, because under the information-functional culture, the employees or different departments in the Apple, Inc. would share nothing between each other. It is not effective for the organization to operate their daily business. They cannot get the newest information as soon as possible. Also, it will affect the organization’s business to be fail.
