The subject of ethics is very hard to explain when it is applied to the workplace. Ethics is defined as “ the code of moral principals and values that governs the behaviors of a person or group with respect to what is right or wrong”(Daft 2012 pg. 5). Having a code of ethics represents what an organization values, their set standards and should be an aid when making corporate decisions. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. It has become common for an organization to ditch their ethical codes for the prospects of pleasing stakeholders and making profits, abandoning all sound reasons. ...view middle of the document...

It is important to think the issue through, gather all the facts, think about how your decision would affect the organization and stakeholders, and make a sound decision using the organizations code of ethics as a guideline.
In the situation with Genesys Health System I would have definitely used the practical approach ”which sidesteps debates about right, good, or just, and bases decisions on prevailing standards at the profession and larger society, taking the interest of all stakeholders into account” (Daft 2012 pg. 20).
I would have looked at the situation and then the organizations code of ethics. Once I realized the problem I would have brought this to the attention of the ethics committee within the organization. Then I think it would have been important to reassure the stakeholders that this problem is being rectified and procedures are being put in place to make sure nothing like this happens again.
