Some of the above information will be presented via the informative packet the students will provide to their fellow classmates and instructors. The case profile must accompany the informative packet.
The students will then present and perform a comprehensive 30 minute sample treatment session for this patient. (One student will act as the "therapist" and another student will act as the "patient.") All skills learned in PTA I-IV, Kinesiology and Test & Measurement Skills for the PTA courses are to be utilized as appropriate for the assigned case.
Following each presentation the instructors and students are allotted 15 minutes to critique, provide feedback, discuss overall presentation and ask questions of presenters.
In addition, the instructors will meet privately with the presenters to provide additional feedback and instruction to strengthen and clarify their presentation (up to 30 minutes).
Students are encouraged to utilize A V material, Power Point, handouts, PT library, Internet, the college Library and clinics to provide support and background information for this presentation.
Classmates will provide a written peer review for each presentation, which will be given directly to the presenters. These reviews will have no bearing on the final grade. Students are encouraged to provide constructive feedback to each other.
Students will be graded by the instructors. All students in the group will receive the same grade for the project. Grades will be determined by thoroughness of oral presentation, accuracy, ability to justify treatment rationale, presentation of correct physical therapy techniques, creativity, use of A V material, home exercise program, SOAP note and references (please see grading rubric for details).
Dates for Presentations will be assigned by the instructor. They will occur during class on 5/12 and 5/13.
