Strategy The purpose of this section is to describe what should be the strategy of technologically driven company. Here we have taken Intel as technologically driven company. This section determines how a technology strategy will help the Intel Company to reach at success. Technology Driven Strategy: A technology driven strategy starts by expressing the capabilities required achieving the business strategy, and after that the technology required to enable those capabilities. Thorough knowledge of the operating models, business architecture, capabilities, and processes are actionable inputs for one smart business technology management team. Intel is changing its strategy for chip-making: Intel concentrates more to the microprocessors power requirements. Core 2 Duo is a new microprocessor designed by Intel for desktops and laptops. Based on Intel’s current chip architecture the new chip is designed, the new chip different which replaced traditional single-core processing. As per Intel the Core 2 Duo performance is better as compared to its existing also desktop towers run cooler and laptop batteries last longer. Intel concentrates on power consumption in processors as well as processor performance. To save power, has done so. Three different features above hampering whole chip. Engineers can reduce a computational rate of a single core by a factor of four by slowing down the clock speed, and the core utilizes only one-25th of the power. Intel has got success with a technology-driven approach to product development and management.
Core Competencies This section explains “Core Competencies of Intel Company”. A core competency is unique capability of a company that gives it a competitive advantage in the marketplace, which allows it to bring value to its customers, and also contributes to its growth. Core competencies normally consist of fundamental ability or expertise, knowledge in a particular subject area, permit a business to reach a wide range of markets, and cannot be easily duplicated by competitors (C.K. Prahalad & Gary Hamel, 1990). Core competencies are used by multiple technologies and coordinating various production groups in order to deliver an end product to the marketplace. Core competency helps to coordinate various production technologies and delivering products to customers. Intel be able adopt into establish at current retails as well as set up modern retail. Intel's core competency is semiconductor chip design. Three tests are needed for identifying core competencies (C.K. Prahalad &Gary Hamel, 1990)
Industry Dynamics Intel’s industry dynamic is a technological building block that develops a set of interrelated products, technologies and services (Annabelle Gawer, 2009). Intel Company holds about 83% of the market share for microprocessors that go into desktop and notebook computers, tablets, smartphones, and computer servers (www.intel.com). Intel’s new technology boosts CPU performance by reduceing the amount of power consumed. It is one of the best in the manufacturing of
semiconductors. Intel also makes embedded semiconductors for the industrial, medical, and in-vehicle infotainment markets (www.intel.com). Therefore Intel face a dynamic trade-off: selling more processors today.
Technology Sourcing and Internal Innovation Technology sourcing within a business strategic framework involves applying new technologies to current models. Technology can be developed internally through technology investigation (Chatterji & Deb, 1996). For technology sourcing, organizations must consider some factors like research and developments,...
