1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
In previous years, the construction sector in Australia, which operates both nationally and globally, has relied on communication that was either face-to-face or based on use of the telephone and the post. Although these methods of communication were simple and straightforward, they have become too limited and ineffectual because the sector has grown so rapidly. In particular, because of the increasingly global nature of the business, there is a need for the implementation of electronic communication throughout the sector. As a result, those who work in the construction sector and their clients are finding that there are difficulties with effective communication. Mr Jones has identified two specific problems.

1.2 Authorisation
Mr. Peter Jones, Managing Director of Global Construction, requested this report on
4 February 2016.

1.3 Aim of the Report
The purpose of this report is to provide an analysis of the causes of communication problems facing within the construction sector. It aims to suggest recommendations to minimise these problems.

1.4 Scope
The scope of the report is limited to communication problems in two areas:
Problem to archive real time information; and more fragmented than other industries.

2.0 CAUSES OF COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR
2.1 Delay to Achieve Real Time Data
In the construction sector, many people are involved from several enterprises such as the financers, engineers, contractors, sub-contractors, supervisor, transporters and labours. Additionally, they all are at same site where everyone has to follow documentation and paperwork which could not co-operate on same time. That leads to delay in collection of the data and progress of project might be halt and could not archive real time information. According to Vikko, Kallonen and Iknonen (2008, p. 269): ‘Many manufacturing or building tasks depend on the...
