Summary and Conclusions
The study attempts to determine the different factors that influence the decisions of 2nd year College of Business and Accountancy Students of the University of St. La Salle in choosing their major course. The study also seeks to identify the different benefits and descriptions of the courses offered in the said college. The research design used is descriptive because we tend to describe the facts in a factual way.
There were 50 2nd year CBA students of University of St. La Salle who did partake in the study. The findings of the study revealed that the biggest factor that influences the decisions of our respondents is their family. Results have shown that Operations Management ang Marketing having 22% each in the survey conducted are the most prefered courses in the College of Business and Accountancy by students. Operations Management is known to oversee, design, and controll the
process of producing and redesigning business operations in the production of goods or services that encourages stuents to be a well-authorized personnel in their future career. While Marketing focuses in communitcating the value of a product or service to customers. Marketing might sometimes be interpreted as the art of selling products, but sales is only one part of marketing which attracts stuents having personalities that suits a marketer. Only 86% of the students have already decided what course they would take which means that there are still 14% of the students who still have difficulty of choosing the major they will take. The study shows that 56% decided to take up a single course that would make them focuse on the chosen course they took.
Therefore, the study shows that some of the College of Business and Accountacy students still haven't made up their minds as to what major course they would take. There are different factors that were considered but the families of the students are the top most factor that they considered as influential in making their decisions. Students think that their parents know what are the best decisions are that would be able to help them in their future. Some idolized their parents that they want to follow the footstepd of their parents. Knowing the various types and programs being offered by each course would help the students to choose the correct and most suitable course for them.
Based on the conclusions of the study, the researchers recommend for future study:
to have a bigger sample size of second year CBA students to have a more reliable and valid for reference purposes;
to have a diverse choices in their questionnaire for the respondents to choose from;
