Fenway Park is home to the Boston Red Sox and is located in Boston, Massachusetts. It took about six months to build and opened on April 20, 1912. On the other hand, Wrigley Field is home to the Chicago Cubs and is located in Chicago, Illinois. Wrigley Field took only about a month to build and opened on April 23, 1914. Fenway Park and Wrigley Field are the two oldest baseball stadiums. They have both held many different events including championships, other sporting events, and concerts.
Sports held at these stadiums include soccer, football, and hockey games. Wrigley has also held National Football League games where they let the Chicago Bears use their stadium from 1921 to 1970. Fenway, on the other hand, has held all three of the professional sports. It has hosted nineteen soccer matches, the last one being July 2010. Also, football games where the Boston ...view middle of the document...
So over the last 100 years these two stadiums have had a lot going on!
Both of the ballparks have one very unique thing about them, Fenway Park has the “Green Monster” and Wrigley Field has the “Ivy Fence”. The Green Monster is a thirty-seven foot, two inch high wall in left field that is only three hundred feet from home plate. The wall was originally constructed when the park was built back in 1912. The wall was not the color green, until 1947 when it was painted. Prior to it being painted green, it was just called “The Wall” and had ads all over it! Wrigley Field on the other hand, has its unique feature about it also. The outfield wall is red brick and it has ivy vines all over it during the winter and summer months, but once spring comes around the ivy starts to grow and the brick wall is hidden behind the thick and green ivy. Many tourists visit these two ballparks just to see these main attractions, due to the fact they have heard so much about these two special features that they both possess.
Last but not least, foot and sports go hand in hand with each other when it comes to Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. Since the ballparks are so old, they both have the classic foods, but also some newer foods to satisfy the fans cravings during the event. The classic foods would include hot dogs, hamburgers, pretzels, popcorn, and numerous kinds of candies. Over the years, ball park foods have changed and are now starting to have almost everything from Rita’s Italian Ice to Quaker Steak and Lube Wings.
Fenway Park and Wrigley Field are to very special ball parks and have a lot of history behind them. I personally cannot even pick which one I like more, considering that they have a lot of interesting things about them. The most common thing is that they are home of the two best franchises in baseball today! Even with the Cubs not doing so well in the post season, they are still a top team every year. As for the Red Sox, they are picked to reach the World Series, if not win it every year.
