Homelessness is one of our biggest problems in the word and also in Ireland. According to the statistics there are 3808 homeless people living in Ireland. not enough qualification or social help, high debts, factors caused by mentally or physically health problems, divorce or end of a relationship etc. The reason caused by family background contains arguing between family members or family breakdown, physical and sexual mistreatment, alcohol or drug abuse by a family member or also family homelessness. The institutional background which can cause homelessness can be after growing up in a orphanage, being let from the prison or after being in a military. The structural causes for the homelessness are caused by social and economic factors. These factors cannot be managed by the person itself or a family member. The factors can be unemployment, poverty, closing hospitals, so that long term patients loose their place without having any other stay. The most common issues that the homeless people face are severe weather circumstances, mistreatment from people passing the homeless people, mental condition. Homeless people also suffer from social disadvantages like incomplete access to education, health care, dental service.

There are various of problems that the homeless people face. Most of them are associated with having no housing and sleeping on the street. For the ones who are sleeping rough the issues they face is being unsecured, especially in Ireland – weather conditions which cause serious health problems, they don't have any place to keep their food or to store some other values, don't have any privacy and it's hard for the homeless people to keep in contact to other people because they don't have any lasting address. Being homeless without the matter if sleeping rough or moving from one accommodation to the other also affect peoples private life. That mean it's hard for the people to live a normal life, to have a family etc. Some other issues that the homeless people face are the social problems. The homeless people also face the the rejection from the society, they get discriminated, judged or even violated by other people because of they social status. Homelessness can also cause difficulties by gaining health care, getting higher education because of the financial situation of the homeless people. By reason of the stereotypes and prejudices it is harder for them to find a job, because most employers don't feel comfortable employing homeless people. This brings the homeless people to a difficult situation, because without a job they don't have a shelter and because of the homelessness they have difficulties finding a job. All of those social issues can affect the self-esteem of the homeless people, so they start to feel and think bad about themselves. Now the question that arise is what could be done to change that? What solution do we have to fight homelessness in Ireland? The Department of the Environment, Heritage and the Local Government of Ireland released a strategy “The way home: A...
