InterClean is an $8 billion dollar company within the industrial and intuitional sanitation cleaning industry. The company has been a major player in the industry. InterClean sales have excelled within demonstrating and selling of products. In the near future InterClean want to obtain success and become a better company. The company is seeking other strategies to expand from the success InterClean has already obtained. The company acquired Enviro Tech to transform into a company that would be considered as a solution base organization and secure the competitive edge in the industry.
InterClean has a current plan that would not be feasible for the company, since the integration of both InterClean and Enviro Tech has not been completed. Issue and Opportunity Identification
The new company’s first step would be to focus on completing the merger. With every merger brings forth problems. It is self evident that research shows that when things are not handled properly the outcome is not positive. One thing that would result in a negative outcome is not ensuring the care of the employees of both sides. Uncertainty and fear rest within both sides. Mergers also bring forth various opportunities.
Depending on InterClean successful completion of the merger the company would have employees knowledgeable to offer solution bases services that would place the company first within the sanitation and cleaning sector. A successful merger for the company would mean that the company would have employed preeminent employees. With the preeminent employees employed a success foundation will be established. The company’s future success will depend on the preeminent employee’s willingness.
The new company’s second step would be to focus on obtaining and maintaining employee motivation. Because of the low employee morale the company’s management will have to develop a strategic plan to increase employee morale.
According to Thomson (2011), the uncertainties brought about by this new relationship are monstrous in size and should be managed effectively and with a clearly communicated plan. Employers should develop a strong understanding of the two cultures coming together and ensure that a new culture is created from both good qualities of the two already existing cultures (Mergers and Acquisitions - Employee Motivation Surveys, Employee Attitude Surveys and Employee Opinion Surveys, para. 1).
Employee morale will be essential for both companies to move forward with the pending merger. To address the concerns of the employees InterClean should ensure effective communication between employees. The company must develop an effective communication strategy in the beginning phase. The newly developed strategy should be closely enforced within the company to ensure effective communication to increase the employee morale.
