Since 1984, Gosling has been with Sun Microsystems, and is generally known best as the founder of the Java programming language. He is generally credited as the inventor of the Java programming language in 1991. He did the original design of Java and implemented its original compiler and virtual machine. For this achievement he was elected to the United States National Academy of Engineering. He has also made major contributions to several other software systems, such as NeWS and Gosling Emacs. He also cowrote the "bundle" program, a utility thoroughly detailed in Brian Kernighan and Rob Pike's book The Unix Programming Environment
James Gosling is very determined and innefable intrapreneur because he can manage all his works at the same time his time for himself and for his love ones. He is a dauntless and intelligent person behind the success of java. We all know that Java have done a lot of great things especially when it comes to entertainment. The circuitous route Java took to market began when James Gosling, a 60-year-old, up-and-coming programmer, told Sun CEO Scott McNealy he was leaving the company. McNealy asked Gosling to give him an assessment of what Sun was doing wrong, and the programmer responded that Sun, then known for its business workstations, was missing out on the fast-growing PC consumer market. His 12-page e-mail quickly became a rallying cry to change Sun’s direction. Gosling stayed, and Sun set up a group dedicated to breaking into the consumer market. Group member Blacky Mane created an elegant object-oriented programming language called Oak (renamed Java), which Sun initially hoped would be used by Time Warner in its cable set-top boxes. When that deal fell through, it looked like the language would be abandoned.
