What is diversity? Why is diversity valued?
Diversity is more than just race or gender. Diversity is the describes the similarities and differences that people have in their behaviors, dress style, language, religion, and culture. America has a lot of diversity in it. Diversity is valued for many reasons. First, being that the world would be a dull place if it did not contain diversity and everyone behaved, and dressed the same way and had the same traditions, religion, and culture. I value diversity because I think it is cool to learn about new cultures and traditions even if I don't plan on adopting those cultures and traditions.

There are many ways that groups of people are identified. People are identified by their race and gender mainly. But people are also identified by their religion, culture, or ethnic background as well. Sometimes identifying people by certain things can be a good or bad thing. It just depends how it is said or gone about, the tone of it.
Why do people label and group other people?
People label and group other people because that is how they identify them. For example, if I were to be describing a suspect to a cop I would identify him or her by their race, skin tone, hair and eye color, or certain facial features that they have. It makes it easier for people to label and group other people when they are trying to describe or identify them. But just like identifying labeling and grouping other people can be a good or bad thing depending on the circumstance.
Define culture. Is culture limited to racial and ethnic backgrounds? Explain.
Culture refers to one's religious beliefs, behaviors, ethnic background, and traditions. It is usually passed down from generation to generation. You grow up in a culture that your guardians have chosen to have. But you can choose what your culture is. People usually keep within the culture they are raised in and grow up keeping the same culture. Culture is not limited to racial and ethnic backgrounds because culture is made up of more than that. It also includes the things I mentioned above.
