Natalee Holloway Speech

1263 words - 6 pages

Intro:
The girl you see behind me is Natalee Holloway and she has been missing since 2005. 9 years ago, Natalee was a lot like myself and many of us in this room. She was excited for college and for an amazing graduation trip to Aruba. Except, unlike Natalee we are all with our friends, families, and getting to experience college life. Natalee was enrolled at the University of Alabama on a full ride but never got to attend.
Thesis: First I will describe the tragic disappearance of Natalee Holloway, possible suspects, and a interview with former Aruban citizen.
Body:
-Story-
Natalee Holloway was an American girl from a wealthy town in Mountain Brook, Alabama whom disappeared on May ...view middle of the document...

We aso know this is a false statement due to the hotels ability to see what key cards were entered at what specific times and Natalee’s key was never accessed to the room.
Second, Van Der Sloot stated to officials that he left Holloway asleep on the beach. The evidence of this statement was so vague and unclear however could possibly be true. Van Der Sloot stated he dropped Holloway off to sleep near the fisherman’s docks that night. TRACEY CITATION** On a side note, Tracey Allen, whom visited Aruba one week before Natalee Holloway was taken said she woke up early one morning to get a relaxing run on the beach. She stated how she passed the exact fisherman docks on her path and said a man was sitting on the beach next to the docks watching her run. She turned around as she passed him and he was gone. She heard car doors so she turned around again to see him coming after her in his car. After he had trapped her in, he got out of his car without pants on with intentions to take her and rape her. This was the exact spot Van Der Sloot said he left Natalee on the beach, so this is why the story could seem very possible and realistic.
Lastly, Van Der sloot stated that he sold Natalee to human trafficking for a little less than $10,000. In a Fox news interview Donna Pazzeco, she asks Van Der Sloot about the situation and why he did it, however he says he didn’t realize trafficking was as big of a crime as it actually is and he hopes she is still alive. This is the most realistic story to me because as a teenage kid he probably wouldn’t have just killed the girl he just met that day.
Transition ~~ As I began to brainstorm for this topic I instantly thought of my friend and former Aruban Civilian, Shandeeh Fernandes Pedra.
This topic is a little touchy for SHandeeh as this happened in her home. Shandeeh described the many possibilities of what she really thinks happened to Holloway. Shandeeh is a friend whom I trust and actually met in Aruba. I have been to Aruba many times and met her once while I was there. Shandeeh is now a US citizen along with her family however still visits back home to Aruba. Shandeeh strongly believes Joran Van Der Sloot had a major part of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance. She stated “the first problem was Natalee had to of consumed too much alcohol or drugs to leave with three guys she just met”. She also stated “Natalee was parting too hard as many Americans do in Aruba and on vacations; however could’ve avoided the situation in many ways. Shandeeh thinks she was taken by Van Der Sloot, raped by him, and dumped into the ocean. “Although this is a horrifying thought” she said “this is what I believe is true and that is because her body will never be found this way”. Shandee is a credible source to gather information and opinion about the topic because she lived on the small Aruban Island at the time of Natalee’s disappearance. She did not know Joran however she did know his younger brother.
