We got into the family’s tent and in the corner we saw two kids, at the age of three, lying under a blanket with hundreds of swarming flies around them. It was dirty, it stanched, and it was humid. We were asking one of the boys who lost one of his legs at the earthquake.
What did you eat at home before the earthquake? »We used to eat a lot of good things like cookies
and treats and lots of corn and rice.« The eight
year old boy said. Then the mother interrupted;
»We used to eat well like bananas, apples and other delicious fruits. But today, it is difficult to trust that this
going to be better for us.« She says.
How is it to be mother and father for five kids?
The mother continued; »For me to have all these
children relying on me. At times I feel like I am
drowning.« She says in the while she looks
worried at her children.
How is it to live like this? And what is your dream?
The father begins; »We live in a tent, but it is not comfortable at all. During the day it is extremely hot. It is too hot for the children. Sometimes the heads sets of headaches. During the night it feels so cold. It feels like it is snowing inhere.
There is a lot of trash outside the tent and even
human waste and it is not healthy for my
children. I would thank got if I could find a new home for my family. We would be healthier and finally have peace of mind. Me and my wife dream of living in a house where our kids can grow up easily. We want our kids to be healthy and we want a better life for our family.«He said with tears rolling down his cheek.
