Timberland acts in such a way that enhances its society and its inhabitants and the company can be held accountable for any of its actions that affect people, the community and their environment. We do this by creating outstanding products and by trying to make a difference in the communities where we live and work,” shows that it is in Timberland’s self-interest in the long term to provide true value to its customers, to help its employees to grow and to behave responsibly as a global corporate citizen.

3. What are the arguments for and against Timberland’s social responsibility initiatives?
Arguments for Timberland’s social responsibility initiatives include that it balances corporate power with responsibility; discourages government regulation; promotes long-term profits for the business; and improves their stakeholder’s relationships and business reputation. Indeed, good reputation and positive brand image are important to Timberland. The social reputation of Timberland is viewed as an important element in establishing trust between the company and its stakeholders. The credibility with the government and stakeholders can serve as determinants of a company’s viability and this eventually leads to increased profits.
