FINAL PAPER –BUSINESS ETHICS-
WIKILEAKS: Heroes or villains? Present a critical assessment.
Wikileaks is an international, online, non profitable organization, which publishes secret information, new leaks, political, social and military reality analysis (that can be hide), and classified media from anonymous sources for protecting them.
They work for the protection of the freedom of expression and its diffusion through the media, and improve History of everyone and the right for each person to create it.
The problem is that wikileaks generates different reactions. A lot of its publications generates violent polemics and intimidations. Even the website is threaten ...view middle of the document...
Taking to account that Julian Assange is a publisher and not a whistleblower show us ethical constraints which apply to wikileaks as an online publication. This comparison helps us understand the importance of the informations Wikileaks reveals, and the importance of the threats and ethical problems it causes. What are the ethics of the release of the information and the use of the release?
CASE INVOLOVING WIKILEAKS:
WikiLeaks releases NATO report on civilian death in Afghanistan
In the beginning on 2009, Wikileaks realesed a NATO Report on civilian deaths in Afganistan. The report was about how the number of civilian deaths had increased over the past months. At the same time, wikileaks released a compilation of more that 76000 documents about the war in Afghanistan. The report shows a dramatic escalation of the war and civil disorder. Here are some numbers that shows us some conclusions that we would never know without those reports: Coalition deaths increased by 35%, assassinations and kidnappings by 50% and attacks on the Kabul based Government of Hamid Karzai also more than doubled, rising a massive 119%.

All of this show us that the big nations don’t lie to people but don’t tell the truth.
Wikileaks issue is the protection of confidential data. We can imagine if that the documents available to everyone arrive on the wrong hands like terrorists. Sometimes military secrecy may be good.
